OK maybe not “stars” but Internet entrepreneurs, marketeers and bloggers.
It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a petrolhead, and last week I got to wondering if there were many others in our online world who shared my passion. So I started to email a few people and asked them 4 questions about their car history, current car and new cars. The results made really interesting reading and I thought I would share them below. I’ve started the ball rolling.
Kieron Donoghue from Here.org.uk.

If money was no object then it would have to be the Ferrari 250 GTO you know the one from the film Vanilla Sky? That has to be one of the coolest cars ever made but ill need to make a lot of commission before that dream comes true!

Al Carlton from Self Made Minds

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?

A3 2.0T S line - my daughter chose it, she liked the colour, girls! I liked the engine and BOSE sound system, quality.

Q. What is your current car?
1993 Porsche 911 Turbo II S.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
Tough question. Money no object I would have a garage the size of football field…
I’ll pick the Pagani Zonda F Roadster though, because almost every supercar is “pret à porter” and this one is “haute couture”.

Rachel Elnaugh - Entrepreneur and former “Dragon” from BBC TV show Dragon’s Den
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
17. I failed on the first attempt and the Instructor signed the form with what looked like P. Orf … I sent the failure notice into Esther Rantzen and she read it out on TV – my first taste of fame!
Q. What was your first car?
The first car I drove was a brown Vauxhall Astra belonging to my dad’s business. My first taste of freedom!
Q. What is your current car?
We now have three cars – the posh one: a Mercedes SL500, the practical one: a VW 7-seater Touran (we have 5 kids), and the runabout: a Suzuki Jimny. Of all 3 cars, I actually love the Jimny. It’s very environmentally friendly, still only costs £40 to fill up and also fits into the tiniest parking space – which is great as I spend a lot of my life these days on trains and planes. I do love Audis and did have an Audi Q7 which I ordered as soon as the car was announced, but it was the biggest most hideous aggressive gas guzzling monster imaginable, plus impossible to park AND get the door open… I couldn’t wait to get rid of it and sold it 10 months after I bought it.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
I used to hanker after a yellow Porsche 911 but these days I’m not really hung up on cars – that’s soooo Alpha Male - so long as they get me from A to B without causing too much damage to the environment then I’m happy!

Gaj - from Gaj-it.com
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
I was desperate to pass my test and get on the road. After completing my theory test on my 17th birthday, I then took my practical test at the first available slot. I still remember the day and the bags of nerves that came with it, but thanks to Mr Bond, my assessor I passed my test.
Q. What was your first car?
My first car was a Honda Accord 2.0i VTEC SE Ex Sport 5d Auto. Although it was a shared family car, my parents bought it on the premise I did well at my A-levels. Apart from me being the envy of all my friends it also came jammed packed with most mod cons and loads of gadgets.
Q. What is your current car?
The same Honda Accord, however it’s got all the modern day extras e.g. inbuilt sat nav, full leathers and front heated seats, a Bose system with a big sub and other luxuries so I can’t really get any better. The only thing I modified since buying it was adding a spoiler.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
Well, at the moment I’m saving all my pennies for a BMW 330 but if money was no object then in order I want a Buggatti Veyron, Lamborghini Reventon, Ferrari 360 Modena (although I like the 𑌞 too), Porsche GT, Ford Mustang, Nissan GT-R, M6, M3, XJ220, Lamborghini Countach and of course if I were sheikh then I’d buy them all.

Q. What is your current car?
Range Rover Sport 2.7 TDV6 HSE.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
Aston Martin DBS - it’s more the fact it would struggle on the Nursery Run that I’m unlikely to get it!

Chris Brown from Sunshine.co.uk

Q. What was your first car?
Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Merit. Bought for £1900 and sold 6 months later for £2400.

Fraser Edwards from CarArticles.co.uk
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
17 and passed first time
Had to take one of the earliest theory tests before they started making it harder!
Q. What was your first car?
Had an H reg Red Rover Metro GTA - 1.4 litre engine in a tin can of a car made it a nippy little thing. Unfortunately it rusted away to nothing in the end
Q. What is your current car?
Current car is a Suzuki Sʹ - With my office being 10 mins walk from the house I hardly drive at the moment so my wife had more influence on the purchase of our last car! Note the stylish roof box for all the extra stuff we need to carry around now we have a baby!

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
I’m not hugely ambitious about my car but I have always liked the like of the Chrysler Crossfire just because it looks a bit different.

Neil Patel from QuickSprout.com
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
I was 16 when I first passed my driving test.
Q. What was your first car?
My first car was a 1989 Toyota Camry. We used the car for 18 or so years before we gave it up. I loved it and still to this day I wish I had it. The car was in great condition for being 18 years old, but there were a few problems, which made us give it away. For example my mom and I taped the side skirts to the car because they kept on falling off. The automatic windows needed to be assisted by your “hands” to move up. The AC blew hot air. The radio automatically adjusted the volume up or down. When the car was cold, it wouldn’t shift gears, causing it to not exceed 40 miles. The car couldn’t drive up hills too well. And every time I wanted to start the car, I would have to open up the hood and hit the starter motor with a rubber mallet.
Q. What is your current car?
My current car is a 2001 Toyota 4runner. It is my parents car and I have been driving it since I started college.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
It used to be a Masserati Quattroporte, but I don’t have a dream car anymore. I am one of those guys that wants something for a day or two and then gets over it quickly. And sadly if I get it, I usually stop caring about it after a day or two as well. Right now my dream car is something that gets 100 plus miles per gallon if something like that exists.

Matthew Wood from Existem
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
A month or so after I turned 17. As I was travelling for over an hour by bus to college every day a car was a must, I jumped in one as soon as I could!
Q. What was your first car?
Fiat Uno 1.0. I really wanted a Nova 1.4SR, but budget did not allow! Thus I shelled out £850 on an ‘E’ plate Italian in Black.
Q. What is your current car?
Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
Difficult one, must admit it varies from week to week when I watch Top Gear or read the latest edition of the magazine. It used to be a DB9, Then a Lambo, however if I forget the practicalities it has to be a Bugatti Veyron. 1000+ BHP and 0 - 60 in 2.5 seconds - awesomely, stupidly, crazy! The problem is I think I’d actually be too scared to drive it.

Shane Robinson from BrandWatcher.com
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
I passed when I was 18, first time after 6 lessons :o)
Q. What was your first car?
First car was a Fiesta super sport which blew up after 7 miles
Q. What is your current car?
BMW 325 CI M Sport Convertible.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
Dream car, hmm tough one.. reality is often different from perception so I’d say whilst I’m drawn to the Ferrari f430, two of my mates who owned them have just traded them in and bought 911 turbos and say they are way better. So if I had to pick one that I’ve driven and loved and think I could live with on a daily basis I’d have to say Aston Martin DB9.. it’s an awesome all round car, has the right combination of power, looks, finesse and style, everything else out there has too much of one over the other, But I’m afraid my working class background means I just can’t justify binning way over £100k on a car lol.

Michael Anthony from Affiliate-Marketing-School.com
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
The day after my 17th birthday.
Q. What was your first car?
Mark One 1966 Ford Cortina - cost £100.
Q. What is your current car?
Aston Martin DB9.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
Money IS no object! I own my dream car. I did plan to buy a DBS but cancelled the order after a test drive convinced me that it wasn’t worth the extra £50k.
Nate from UniqueBlogDesigns.com
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
I was 16 when I passed my driving test and received my license.
Q. What was your first car?
My first car was a 1999 Honda CR-V. Something nice and slow, relative to the cars I would own afterward. My next car was a 2002 Subaru WRX with full exhaust, and after that, I bought a 1993 Mazda RX-7, fully tuned, upgraded and dyno’d to 393 whp. I took the WRX and RX-7 to the race track for road racing.
Q. What is your current car?
Current car is a 2008 Cadillac CTS. It was the Motor Trend Car of the year and in my opinion, a superior choice to the Mercedes C-class or the BMW 3-Series. 300HP direct-injection V6 and as much room as a 5-series. It has renewed some of my faith in the American car market.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
My dream car is a Pagani Zonda F. Pagani is such a rare beast, and the Zonda F is truly the top of the line Pagani.

Mark Ward from Driving-Experiences.co.uk
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
I was 17 when I passed my test in 12 lessons.
Q. What was your first car?
First car was a Rover Metro.
Q. What is your current car?
Honda Integra Dʣ Type-R. An import as they were only released to the Japanese market.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
As for the car I want, well the petrol head in me obviously dreams of all the top end exotics such as the Lamborghini Reventon or I suppose it’s closest match the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 while the realistic dreamer in me is wanting to get a Noble Ḡ GTO-3R (unfortunately not available in white. I’m a huge lover of white cars too).

Chris Garrett from ChrisG.com
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
18, but not for want of trying. Ugh, I took my test 4 times. I am the world’s worst driver, especially when nervous.
Q. What was your first car?
A bright orange metro. Cost me a fortune (£800).
Q. What is your current car?
I wish I could say something flash but it’s a VW soccer-mom-tastic Touran. My first diesel and probably last. We need the 5 real seats and boot space for doggy conveyance.
It seems I don’t have a picture of my car so you will have to make do with this instead.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
I don’t have a dream car really, there are lots of cars I would like though. I’m really interested in the new breed of electric cars like the Tesla. Although I am a motor sport fan, I’m much more interested in comfort than speed when driving myself, unlike my wife who thinks a trip to the shops should be a white knuckle ride.

Shakil Khan from Advertising.com
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
17, although I had been driving since 14 as my dad was a driving instructor and taught me around the backstreets of East London.
Q. What was your first car?
Vauxhall Astra.
Q. What is your current car?
BMW ̇.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
Hmm, tricky question, to be honest I have had a lot of cars and get bored of them very quickly, my current 3 “I want one of those” are:
Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
Maserati Gran Turismo
Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano

Chris Frost from ColdSnail.com
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
Passed on my first attempt at the age of 17, 5mths old :o) I was lucky in the fact that the very next day I was going to Canada on my first holiday without my parents, to meet up with family who live over there. During my test, my mind wasn’t really on the driving or the instructor, but on the holiday and as such, I think it put me at ease and helped me relax and pass
Q. What was your first car?
I learned in my Mums 1L Fiesta Poplar and continued to use that for a few years. When I moved into my first house at the age of 21, my folks bought me my very first car. I got a WHITE Vauxhall Nova 1.4 SXi (SRI look-a-like but cheaper on insurance).
Car History….
Vauxhall Nova 1.4 SXi (White)
Ford Escort 1.6 L (Red)
Ford Escort 1.6 LXi (White)
Vauxhall Astra (Champagne)
Rover 216 IE (Black)
Ford FOCUS ST170 (Midnight Blue)
Volkswagen Golf 2.0 TDI Sport (Black)
Q. What is your current car?
BMW 123d M Sport Coupe (LeMans Blue) - had for 1 week and LOVING it

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
Believe it or not, I am not after a £1m car. I would be more than happy with an Aston Martin DB9. I’ve always loved the style of the car, but after having the pleasure of driving one for the weekend (thanks to DFDS Seaways), I also fell in love with grunting noise it made and the sheer power of the beast within.

Michael Madew from Finance-Affiliate.co.uk
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
I was 17 and a half. I passed first time, but back in 1999 you were allowed up to 15 minor faults and I racked up 13, so I was lucky!
Q. What was your first car?
A 1994 Vauxhall Astra. It cost £400 and kept breaking down. One night, thieves rolled it off the drive and halfway down the road, but they couldn’t get it started so they abandoned it.
Q. What is your current car?
A Mercedes ML280 CDI Sport. I bought it 3 months ago with affiliate earnings. Yes it’s a 4×4, but it’s safe, I don’t drive it much and I live in the countryside now, so I can justify it to myself.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
An Aston Martin DBS, but I would probably settle for a DB9.

Scott Jones from Self Made Minds
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
I was 17, I took 6 lessons and then applied for my test and passed which was a relief, not exactly cheap paying for lessons when your that age.
Q. What was your first car?
It was 15 years ago, a MK3 1.4 Escort, it cost £300, had a spoiler, nice paintwork and wheel trims, I was very proud of it until 3 months later when it was due it’s MOT it was written-off due to the amount of welding it needed and work needed to make it pass, I sold it for £50 to a friend, gutted.
Q. What is your current car?
BMW X5 (ͤ) 4.6is. Good for the family as well as having a respectable 0-60 of just over 6 seconds for such a large heavy vehicle, tyres at the back are 20″ 315’s which were replaced recently, ouch!

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
A Murcielago Roadster would be high up on my shopping list.

Kris Jones from Pepperjam Network
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
15…almost 16 years old.
Q. What was your first car?
A 1983 cream-colored Volvo DL.
Q. What is your current car?
A 2005 BMW Z4 convertible and a 2008 Cadillac Escalade.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
Money really isn’t the problem - I don’t have the balls to buy a Rolls Royce or a Bentley, which would be really nice

Mike Butcher from TechCrunch UK
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
17.
Q. What was your first car?
Mitsubishi Galant. Crap but it had a tape player, crucially.
Q. What is your current car?
Renault Scenic Diesel.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
Head: Electric version of a Renault Scenic.
Heart: Volvo .

Chris Burdick from Automoblog.net
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
I passed my test the day I turned 16. I didn’t like the limitations of the driver’s permit so I was excited to get driving right away.
Q. What was your first car?
My first car was a 1984 Chevy Caprice Classic. My friends called it the “Boat” since that’s what it was like driving it. The “Boat” was great, two-tone blue exterior on a great red felt interior. I could fit eight people in that thing, all while getting a solid 12mpg. Didn’t matter at the time, of course. All until the gas tank decided it would suddenly fall off while driving, almost blowing up and killing myself and two friends. Nothing like a near-death experience to get you to change your mind about a car.
Q. What is your current car?
My current daily driver varies each week as I get press fleet cars to review on Automoblog.net. Sometimes they’re great, sometimes they’re terrible. For my weekend car, I own a 1991 Nissan 300ZX. Love the thing. A few modifications on it, including Stillen headers, Stillen X-pipe dual exhaust, K&N intake, Tokico 5-way adjustable struts all around, and a Wings West/Stillen combo body kit.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
I actually have quite a few dream cars, but I suppose if I could pick one it would be a Koenigsegg CCX. Man, what a beast. Second, and more realistically, I would go with a Ferrari 360 Spider. Or an Audi R8. Gah! I want too many cars!

Patrick Altoft from Blogstorm.co.uk
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
17 years and 3 months.
Q. What was your first car?
Seat Ibiza, black. 2nd was a red Maestro..
Q. What is your current car?
2004 BMW 3 series saloon. 2 litre dark grey.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
Some kind of Aston Martin I think. My next car is probably going to be a sporty Audi A3.

Rob Berrisford from RobBerrisford.com
Q. How old were you when you passed your driving test?
I passed my test when i was 17, the second time round mind you, after a nervous disaster of a first attempt, which included the examiner having to grab the steering wheel.
Q. What was your first car?
I bought a H reg, 998cc, Red Mini Mayfair for £800 when I was 18. I bought Red Alloys and sprayed the grill red, I thought i looked cool. It was a bit of a disaster of a car, but I loved it. If anyone has owned a classic mini they will know that the sparks are right behind the grill, so if you drive in the rain and stop the engine it won’t restart. The AA will only come and help you out 9 times in a year, which I exhausted. Eventually it blew up on the M4, when I pushed it way to hard, racking up 95 mph (down a hill with the wind behind me), a big old cloud of smoke. I swapped it for the plastering in my mums bathroom and kitchen in the end.
Q. What is your current car?
I live in zone 2 in London, 2 mins walk from the tube in Clapham, so at the moment I have no need for a car. I drivemy 1.8 ltr A3 to Tesco once a week and that is about it, I can’t justify buying anything better until I start using it more. Plus I live in Brixton so I am not sure how long anything decent would last outside of my house.

Q. What is your dream car if money was no object?
Bit of a kid in a sweetshop one this, I have always been a big fan of Aston’s, but also like the raw driving power of a 911 turbo. I have been weighing up membership to Ecurie25.co.uk for a while now, which will help with my indecision and mean i don’t have to leave it outside my house in Brixton.
