Google Checkout Integrated with Volusion Shopping Cart Software

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

A new love is in the air for online shoppers and sellers alike. This new love takes the form of a trustworthy companion named Google Checkout, a new fast, secure, and convenient way to shop online. From the creators of Google, Google Checkout is now available to all Volusion users.

Volusion’s founder, Kevin Sproles, is very pleased with the new relationship stating, “being an early adopter of Google Checkout has helped to further strengthen our ongoing relationship with Google”. He understands the significance Google has on internet users, and the reliability that company gives its users in return. “We have seen nothing but increased success and appreciation from our merchants with the addition of the Free Google AdWords Credit* over half a year ago” notes Sproles. “We know the addition of Google Checkout will do the same thing for our clients, helping in the foundation and overall success of their online company”.

Increasing Online Sales: A Few Points to Keep in Mind

Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

A long time Volusion customer asked me a very open-ended question recently. He wanted to know how he could increase sales.

I quickly wrote out a few points and decided to add them to our blog in case it could help someone else.

1. Website design is a big area of opportunity. Online shoppers quickly size up a website based on its design. If the site looks cookie cutter and unpolished, the customer could choose to purchase from a competitor’s site with a similar price for no other reason than the website design. A nice website design evokes trust, confidence and value in a shopper’s mind.
2. Check your pricing against your competitor’s products. If your competitor’s are selling the same items at a lower cost and you are not able to display additional value, then you’ll most likely lose that sell. This is something that needs to be checked constantly.
3. Run some promotional specials – people love sales. How many times have you heard a friend say, “It was on sale, I had to buy it!”? These specials can be in the form of a monthly sale, weekly

Tips for Choosing the Right Domain Name

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

There are several things to consider in the quest for the perfect domain name.

Remember that defined, a domain name is “a name that distinguishes your business from others on the Internet, allows Internet users to find your website quickly and easily”.

Your domain name will need to be different than the other domain names out there. Do a search to get an idea of which domain names are available, and which domains are already taken (most are). Generating a unique domain name won’t be too complicated, since most generic names are already being used by other companies.

In order to allow Internet users to find your website “quickly and easily”, keep the following three tips in mind.
